Dr Jayasekera graduated with Honours from The University of Melbourne and completed a fellowship in advanced endoscopy. He obtained a Doctorate of Medical Science that was published in international journals and has presented widely on gut disease and endoscopy. He has interests in GORD (heartburn), IBS and endoscopic procedures including Barrett’s oesophagus treatment.

Dr Jayaskera completed a fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital in advanced endoscopy, focusing on the endoscopic management of Barrett’s oesophagus. This research has been presented at both local and national conferences and published in international gastroenterology journals. He was subsequently awarded a Doctor of Medicine (MD) through the Department of Medicine at the University of Melbourne.

Dr Chatura Jayasekera continues to maintain a broad range of interests in all areas of Gastroenterology including endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, hepatology, viral hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and functional bowel disorders

He provides a holist approach to patient care with the goal of improving health outcomes. This is achieved by close liaison with the referring doctor and allied staff through direct discussion and prompt correspondence. Dr Jayasekera has a caring and professional approach to the patient.

Dr Chatura Jayasekera is available to discuss urgent referrals or clinical issues with General Practitioners and is happy to see patients for consultations, gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
